Instagram automation tools reply to comments, story replies and DMs for you, usually by sending a private message with a link when someone comments a keyword. They all do the basic comment-to-DM trick now. What separates them is how they charge you when a post takes off, what you get free, and how much else they handle.
We compared six tools on the criteria that change your bill and your results. Prices were checked on the date shown, and each product claim links to its source at the bottom.

The reason it ranks first is the pricing model. Every plan, Free included, has unlimited DMs and unlimited automations, so the reel that goes viral is the one that costs you nothing extra. Contact-based tools charge more for exactly that reel.
Its follow gate is the other standout. Instead of trusting a tap on "I'm following", Tadlo checks through Instagram's API. Tadlo has published production data from its follow gate: across 12,344 follow checks over 23 days, 41% of commenters asking for a link did not follow the account, and 33.3% of people who tapped "I'm following" were not actually following.

Best for: Teams that need many channels in one tool
ManyChat is the best-known name in chat automation. Beyond Instagram it runs Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, Telegram and SMS from one builder, and its template library and tutorial community are the largest in the category.
The trade-off is cost. Since March 2026 ManyChat charges by active contacts, so your bill climbs as more people interact with you, and the free plan was cut to 25 contacts.

Essential: $17 a month ($14 billed annually), 250 active contacts, any 2 channels, unlimited custom automations, 2 users, no branding. Business: $99 a month ($69 billed annually), 7,500 active contacts, unlimited channels, 5 users, shared team inbox. Advanced: $199 a month ($139 billed annually), 25,000 active contacts, 10 users. Paid plans charge per active contact beyond those included. Essential and Pro have a 14-day free trial.

LinkDM focuses on one job: when someone comments, they get your link in their DMs. It works with Instagram and Facebook comments, and it says it has been a Meta Business Partner since 2021.
Plans are metered by DMs sent per month, which is simpler than ManyChat but still a ceiling: the free plan stops at 1,000 DMs a month.
Price: Free: 1 Instagram account and 1,000 DMs a month with LinkDM branding. Pro: $19 a month ($182 a year), up to 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs a month. Platinum+: $99 a month ($832 a year), up to 10 accounts and 300,000 DMs a month. Enterprise is custom.

Price: Free: 1 Instagram account and 500 DMs a month. Pro: $15 a month ($12 billed yearly), 2 accounts and 5,000 DMs. Growth: $30 a month ($24 billed yearly), 5 accounts and 10,000 DMs. Pro and Growth have a 14-day trial.

Price: Free forever: 1 account and 500 DM automations a month, no card. Billed yearly: Legend Pro $9.99 a month (unlimited, up to 800 an hour), Trendsetter $24.99 (up to 2,000 an hour) and Trendsetter Pro $49.99 (no hourly cap). Multi-account plans: Multi Starter $4.44 per account a month (3 accounts, $160 a year) and Multi Pro $8.25 per account a month (10 accounts, $990 a year). Paid plans have a 7-day trial.

We scored each tool on five things, in this order of weight:
- Cost when a post goes viral. Per-contact pricing (ManyChat) grows with your audience. Per-DM caps (LinkDM) can stop sending. Unlimited plans (Tadlo AI) do neither.
- Free plan. Can you run real automations without paying?
- Follow gate. Does it verify that the commenter follows you, or just trust a button tap?
- Official API and setup. All six use Meta's official APIs. We favoured tools that do not require a Facebook Page.
- Everything after the DM. Email capture, product links, link-in-bio and analytics in the same tool.

Is Instagram automation safe?
Automation through Meta's official API is allowed. Instagram's limits apply to every tool, including how many private replies an account can send and the 24-hour window for messaging someone after they contact you. Problems usually come from unofficial tools that log in with your password, or from posting the same public comment reply hundreds of times. Pick a tool on the official API that paces messages, and vary your public replies.
